PHILOSOPHY

At the core of my creative philosophy lies a first principles approach to film and television production. I believe in stripping a narrative down to its most universal essence, simplifying complex ideas into universally understood moments that resonate with everyone.

From this foundational simplicity, we begin to innovate—deliberately playing with and subverting those universally understood audience expectations. I believe this method not only engages but also challenges our viewers, inviting them to explore the depths of each story in new and unexpected ways.

FEATURE FILM

UNSULLIED

“Unsullied,” written and produced by John Nodilo, is an independent thriller that follows Reagan Farrow, a track star who faces a fight for survival after being kidnapped by two sociopaths. The film unfolds as Reagan escapes into the wild, relying on her wits and physical prowess to evade her relentless pursuers.

Reviews hail the screenplay for its adept handling of tension and character development, setting it apart from typical entries in the thriller genre. The narrative skillfully explores themes of resilience, survival, and the human spirit’s capacity to overcome dire circumstances.

Per the LA Times, Nodilo’s writing infuses the storyline with depth, focusing on the psychological aspects of Reagan’s ordeal, which adds layers to what might otherwise be a straightforward survival story, noting that Nodilo’s work provides “unusually thoughtful expositions” in a genre that often prioritizes action over character insight. This thoughtful approach to storytelling not only enhances the film’s suspense but also deepens the viewer’s engagement with Reagan’s struggle, making “Unsullied” a compelling example of how thoughtful writing can elevate a film’s impact.

This project, in collaboration with Spectrum, successfully entered development at HGTV, where I served as an executive producer alongside Drealine Pictures. The series captures the powerful impact of community redevelopment through the lens of a celebrated athlete making a meaningful difference in the areas he once played.

FEATURE FILM – FAITH BASED

The Gift of Christmas

I spearheaded the turnaround of “The Gift of Christmas,” a faith-based feature starring Dee Wallace of E.T. fame. Collaborating closely with the executive producer, I restructured the entire narrative, reworked key scenes, and took charge of editing, scoring, and color correction – handling all myself. My comprehensive overhaul transformed the film into a compelling and heartfelt story, greatly enhancing its appeal. The revitalized “The Gift of Christmas” achieved over 5 million views online and secured multiple ongoing licensing agreements, marking a significant success in the faith-based film market.
